There are officially 14 days until Valentine’s day! Typically a time for romantic love - we say this year is the year to reclaiming for it for self love!
And to help you get to on the path to worshiping yourself we're giving you once simple tip to try each day.
1. Remember that “you are not the opinion of someone who doesn’t know you” - Taylor Swift
Swiftie or not, we don't know about you but social media can be exhausting. As it's taking over our lives, it’s important to remember that when you’re thinking about taking time to love yourself, people who are hiding behind their screens, who may be spreading hate or leaving mean comments on your page should not play a role in how you define yourself.
2. Take 15 Minutes to Write
You spend all day writing, but when was the last time you took a minute to write for ourselves. Try writing everything that’s on your mind onto a piece of paper as a stream of consciousness. It doesn’t have to be full sentences, it doesn’t even have to make sense. Set a timer, and write. Getting your thoughts down on paper can be so helpful to clear your thoughts.
3. Discover Your Happy Place
Do you know where to turn to when you need to recharge? For some it's curled up on the couch with a good book and for some it's taking some time in nature. Today is your day to figure it out - you deserve it!
4. Take a Bath
Now, we might be slightly biased here but after your relaxing soak you'll thank us. Baths are a great way to unwind at the end of the day, week, month, whatever it might be. They’re also a great way to destress and calm your mind to get ready for bed!
5. Go For a Walk
Who doesn’t want to unplug from the world for a moment? Clear your head and get some fresh air - it can be so beneficial and so helpful to step away from all of the world’s distractions and take a moment for you.
6. Treat Yourself to Your Favourite Coffee/Tea
Sometimes self-love can come from the smallest gestures. Treating yourself your favourite tea or coffee is the perfect way to start off your day on the best foot on these cold winter days and start your work day or as an afternoon pick-me-up.
7. Take Yourself Out on a Date
Remember all that work you did on discovering your happy place on day 3? We're putting it into practice today! Pull out all the stops today - a quiet solo lunch, endless hours of window shopping, a long hike - take yourself out to a perfect date filled with activities that bring you joy!
8. Be Gentle With Yourself
This pandemic hasn’t not been easy. Pandemic aside now more than ever it's so important to grant yourself the grace and forgiveness you deserve.
9. Buy Yourself Flowers
One small purchase can brighten your whole week! Treat yourself to some beautiful flowers today and refresh your space.
10. Have a Dance Party or do Some Karaoke
Dancing like no one’s watching is something that everyone should do at least once a day. Even if you don’t actually enjoy dancing, moving around and listening to your favourite song is the perfect opportunity for you to let out all your emotions! You can even use our Bath Karaoke Spotify playlist if you need some song inspo for your dance party!
11. Take a Moment to Check in With Yourself
When was the last time you took a minute in your day to simply ask yourself “how am I doing today? Is there anything I can do to bring more happiness today?” The answer doesn’t have to be written down but taking a little extra time to focus on ourselves is so important especially after a long week of work where you're putting others first.
12. Call Someone You Haven’t Talked to in a While
Does someone keep popping into your head or is there someone you've been meaning to reach out to? Today is that day! Make the connection even stronger by giving them a call to chat on the phone (how old school!).
13. Cook Your Favourite Breakfast
Are you someone that is always eating in a rush on their way out the door - or worse skipping breakfast entirely because you're too busy? Not today! Schedule in that time to start your day right - make that bacon and scrambled eggs or that yogurt parfait with all the toppings that you’ve been dying for all week! You deserve it!
14. Look in The Mirror and Say “I Love You”
You go through your day loving things - your partner, your kids, your family, that really amazing cup of coffee. But when was the last time you proudly declared your love for yourself? As silly as it may feel, looking in the mirror and saying "I love you" really does reinforce to your commitment to worshiping yourself.
